We recognize that parents are the child’s first teachers. Children learn best when parents are involved in their educational program. The primary bridge between home and school is the involvement of family and community. Please Note: In the 2025-2026 school year, HCP will be transitioning to a 4-day school week (Monday-Thursday).The Bible is integrated into every aspect of the curriculum. Jam-packed with rebellious youths, juvenile delinquents, a hilarious book, and an infectiously cool score, Cry-Baby has it all! This 2008 Tony-nominated musical (based on John Water's cult-classic film) features a score by Adam Schlesinger and David Javerbaum and a book by Thomas Meehan and Mark O'Donnell.New Line Theatre has been doing this exact sort of musical for 29 years, and if you think co-directors Scott Miller and Mike Dowdy-Windsor can't hide any number of satirical razor blades inside a delicious caramel apple, you haven't been paying attention. New Line's Cry-Baby is as intelligent as it is beautiful.” – Paul Friswold, The Riverfront TimesThat squeaky clean veneer hides a relevant allegory of modern America, where the truth is obscured at all cost, where people who are a little different from the accepted norm are marginalized or shunned, and where the worst offenders are the ones who have claimed responsibility for upholding and protecting the moral fabric of our neighborhoods, our cities, our states and our nation, for protecting the truths we hold self-evident while doing everything they can to deny some slice of the great American pie chart their rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Look at those people through the Cry-Baby lens and you’ll realize just how many Baldwin Blandishes there are in positions of power, and how exceedingly rare a Wade Walker-style rebel truly is.I think he also invites you to look deeper, if you dare. Look no further to see for yourself why New Line Theatre’s presentation of Cry-Baby should not be missed, whether you’re a contented theatre fan or a dedicate truth-seeker.” – Jeff Ritter, Critical Blast

Crying at School Drop Off? Here's What Helped My Child—And Me

Separation anxiety is totally normal for kids. A teacher (and mom) shares what parents should know about crying at school drop-off. Switching from summer vacation to the structure of school is tough for us and our kids. Add to that a new grade with increased responsibilities and expectations, new teachers, and potentially a new school, and crying at school drop off happens to the best of us.Especially when your child’s school separation anxiety comes during the chaos of school mornings. When you’re barely making it out the door, only for your child to completely melt down once you reach the drop-off line or bus stop, it’s tough on everyone. It’s not only heartbreaking to see your kid crying at school drop-off, it’s also extremely stressful. At many schools, the drop-off line can be really stressful—it’s essentially a game of hurry up and wait when you spend time stalled in that line before reaching the front of it, at which point you have to scramble to get your child out of the car. · As much as you’re thinking about your child crying at school drop-off, you’re also cognizant of not holding up that long line of other parents who are parked behind you.Teachers have a lot on their plates, and it’s natural to want to avoid asking them to do one more thing. But reaching out if you have any questions or concerns about your child crying at school drop-off—or about any other concerns—is perfectly acceptable.

'I felt very unsafe': Gay fathers confronted at Arizona religious school accepting vouchers

The confrontation at Heart Cry Christian Academy shows how, as publicly funded education vouchers blur the lines between public and private education, anti-discrimination provisions that protect families enrolled in district and charter schools may not apply. But experts said there are limited legal avenues when it comes to religious schools and discrimination. It’s unclear whether Williams' daughter uses a voucher to pay tuition at Heart Cry, although Heart Cry advertises on its website that it will accept public money from Arizona's voucher program.State law regarding the voucher program makes clear that a private school "shall not be required to alter its creed, practices, admissions policy or curriculum in order to accept students whose parents pay tuition or fees" using a voucher.Don Williams shares custody of his 10-year-old daughter with his ex-wife, who declined to speak with The Republic. Williams' ex-wife, who has legal control over educational decisions related to their daughter, pulled their daughter out of a public charter school and enrolled her at Heart Cry after winter break, Williams said. There are now more than 46,000 students who use Arizona school vouchers, according to the Arizona Department of Education. Gov. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, and the Republican-majority Legislature are at odds over the future of Arizona's universal voucher program. As of Sept. 30, the most common voucher award amount was between $7,000 and $7,999. Heart Cry's elementary and middle school tuition is $8,000, according to the school's website.
